Riviera Lounge by Skagerak

One of our favorite Scandinavian brands is Skagerak. Their focus on simplicity and passion for craftsmanship is evident through the timeless appeal of their products. The family owned company has since 1976 been expanding their Indoor, Outdoor and Accessories collection through collaborations with established design studios as well as up and coming designers. Skagerak’s products are made with an appreciation of the functional and subtle using carefully chosen materials. With a strong passion for wood, Skagerak became FSC certified in 2003 and thereby continuously support responsible wood sourcing. In this way Skagerak operates with purpose through creating meaningful and sustainable designs that cater to a modern and mindful audience. 

We therefore find that owning a Skagerak piece is like having something for life that you can pass onto the next generation. We had the honor of working with some of their amazing pieces through styling and photography wherefrom we created images that display the beauty and functionality of their designs.

The elegant and multifunctional Riviera Lounge designed by established Danish designer Povl B. Eskildsen is based on his original Riviera Sunbed design, which can expand in length. Following his mantra that “Form and function go together”, Eskildsen wanted to redesign the sunbed so that it could instead expand in width, enabling the lounge elements to serve as a chair and a table, a sofa or a sunbed. A cushion can be added for any seating setup, and as with Skagerak’s other outdoor untreated teak products, the surface will patinate over time and eventually turn into a beautiful silvery grey colour that radiates quality and durability. 

 We placed the Riviera Lounge at Jantine’s outside terrace in the first images we created for Skagerak. The contrast between the dark wooden facade, the concrete tiles and the teak Riviera Lounge emphasize the beautiful details of this design.

We are definitely adding this piece to one of our favorite designs by Skagerak due to its craftsmanship and versatility. We have photographed some of our other favorite outdoor pieces from Skagerak in an amazing landscape setting and will share these images with you soon.
