Vent stool by Skagerak

We are always on the outlook for the perfect stool, and in Skagerak’s Vent stool we have certainly found a strong candidate. Designed by the talented Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm, “Vent” means ‘wait’ in Danish and the stool was originally designed to offer museum guests a seat whilst observing and enjoying the art around them.

With its light and elegant black steel frame and braided paper cord seat, the Vent stool exemplifies Halstrøm’s minimalistic design approach and passion for combining contrasting materials. The seat is hand-made in collaboration with the Danish socio-economic company ‘Blindes Arbejde’ which employs visually impaired people to manufacture handcrafted designs.

The best part about styling the Vent stool was how we could simultaneously tap into its very timeless and organic look and its more modern and minimal feel as the woven seat and the steel frame are so contrasting - and as you can see, the stool is very photogenic from all angles (we have more images in the works so stay tuned).

This autumn Skagerak has also launched the stool in a bench version, another item we are really excited about as it is just as elegant and versatile as the stool, making it relevant for a wide range of interior settings.
