‘I’ll be me’ X Tinne + Mia
As I mentioned in my previous post, I really love this time of the year. The new collections of the brands will be launched and we're all inspired by their beautiful stylish catalogs. Last weekend I visited the 2018 Showup tradefair where, besides all the beautiful (Scandinavian) interior and lifestyle stands, I was attracted immediately by the new project of Dutch graphic designer, product designer and stylist in one: Tinne + Mia. I was already familiar with their beautiful Stationery, planners, bags, bed linen and other items but this new collection is so special.
Tinne + Mia recently launched their new collection: 'I'll be me'. ’I’ll be me’ is an initiative to draw worldwide attention to the unique beauty of albinism and to support people with albinism. Especially in African countries there is a lot of superstition about people with this skin condition. With the proceeds of this collection, Tinne + Mia supports the Josephat Torner Foundation that counteracts these misconceptions and violence against people with albinism. They are committed to help people with albinism to build their lives and, if possible, provide immediate help when people with albinism are in need. Therefore a percentage of the proceeds from 'I'll be me' will be donated to the foundation.
The 'I'll be me' collection consists of bags, notebooks, a bracelet, pencils, sticky notes, gift wrapping, labels and ribbons and my favorite item of this collection is definitely the "Feel Good Bag" specially made for this project. The outside is made of vegan leather and the bags are printed on the inside and have a stylized graphic peacock feathers design (metaphor for proud, beautiful, feminine). The bags are folded and packaged in a beautiful minimalistic pouch which I use as a little make-up bag.
Tinne + Mia stayed true to their refined, stylish designs in this line and were inspired by the beauty and purity of people with albinism. Nude shades and feather-light, subtle patterns in which the veins of the skin are recognizable, they combine with a bright pink-red accent that symbolizes the love for diversity and every person. Tenderness and strength characterize each item in this line. In addition, the accompanying photography also shows how beautiful people are with albinism. A wonderful initiative that I really like to support.
