The Krane
Two weeks ago I visited Copenhagen for 3 days to join the Scandidesigntour by Fredericia and Georg Jensen. For the ones who follow our instagram account already have seen this but I will show you more about this tour later here.
Besides these inspiring days I also scheduled some time for myself for meetings and things I wanted to see. High on the list was to see the new MENU Space showroom in real life. We have told you about this space earlier here. The space was as I imagined so inspiring and the perfect place to show all the MENU pieces and drink a cup of coffee or tea. Thank you Line from MENU for showing me around and talking about our shared passion for great design and the MENU philosophy.
Also a new project of MENU is The Krane. The Krane is a private retreat for two with amazing views of Copenhagen harbour, the ocean and beyond. A converted crane for loading coal, black is the red thread throughout the interior, where you’ll find an array of MENU furniture and accessories adding to its luxurious appeal.
Situated on the waterfront of an old harbour in Nordhavn, the industrial surroundings of The Krane are in sharp contrast to the elegant interior, making this an upscale urban retreat that’s truly one-of-a-kind. Namely, a former crane transformed into a modern, multi-level refuge, replete with a reception area, meeting room, spa, and top floor with a living space, lounge and terrace.
Inside, the black interior not only reflects its previous role with coal, it intensifies the arresting views outside. At the same time, black has a remarkably calming effect. Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, Design Manager at MENU, curated the MENU furnishings for the interior. As he sees it, “People intuitively feel relaxed by natural, monochromatic tones. But the project involved more than finding black products in our portfolio.
It involved selecting products with innate nuances of black, such as the marble plinth side tables.
The MENU daybed crafted with sanded soft leather. The Snaregade table with its natural wood grain. Subtle, tactile experiences of genuine materials that enhance the elegance. The result is a soothing sense of harmony.
Suspended up in the air, the world is calm and quiet. Inside you have everything you need. Nothing more, nothing less. The art is live outside – with breath-taking views of the sea and sky. It’s an exceptional experience where you feel on top of the world, in this exquisite escape for two.
