“Interconnect Candle Holder is a bold and illuminating centrepiece of exaggerated proportions, designed for MENU by Colin King. As a source of cosy candlelight, it is characterised by its deceptively simple geometric form: a sphere, an angle and a line, which unite to create a unique design. “As a stylist, I love the idea of a candle holder, but it always fell short through the lens of the camera. I started off with scale and knew I wanted to create something with a real presence. Something with expanse that can live on its own or with other objects,” says Colin King on his new design”

Receiving mail from MENU with the newest additions to their collection is always inspiring. MENU has always been fascinated by the way in which individuals and spaces can be united through great design. In their pursuit to craft furniture, lighting and interior accessories shaped by purposeful details, high-quality materials and human needs, they create strong and lasting relations between designers, manufacturers and customers.

When I visited MENU at the audo last week during 3 days of design, I already saw some of these beautiful items and today I’m sharing some of my personal favorites but I'm also curious about yours. Have you seen the latest additions to the collection? - Elvera

“Ishinomaki AA STOOL is a collaboration between TORAFU ARCHITECTS, Ishinomaki Laboratory and MENU. The flat pack design pushes the boundaries of do-it-yourself to create an innovative seat that uses local materials and crafting skills effectively, highlighting just how innovative simplicity can be.

A devastating earthquake in northeast Japan was the catalyst for a new, community-building initiative to empower individuals through DIY. In 2011, Ishinomaki Laboratory began helping the city rebuild itself through simple, DIY furniture workshops using available materials and skills. Taking the concept out into the wider world under the moniker Made in Local, MENU joins forces with the Japanese furnituremaker and designer TORAFU ARCHITECTS to create the AA STOOL”

“Epoch Clothes Rack Clean lines, intuitive function and innate beauty define the Epoch Clothes Rack by Nina Bruun, one of two new designs from the Danish designer. Updating the ubiquitous coat rack and working from the idea of concealing unsightly hangers and tags behind something beautiful, the minimally elegant design profiles a considered combination of gently rounded edges, warm wood and discreet functionality. Developed and perfected over time, it is characterised by soft bands of undulating wood that sit like sculptures on a wall. Referencing 1950s design aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship, Epoch is pure in both form and material. Available in natural or dark stained oak, it is carefully sized to fit both purpose and place. Epoch Shelf One of two new designs that are coherent in design and carefully sized to fit both purpose and place, the Epoch Clothes Rack by Nina Bruun offers streamlined storage for spaces large and small. Improving and beautifying a wellknown object using a wide band of wood, it is simple in both form and function. The space-saving wood veneer piece can be suspended alone or in rows of multiples. It features on the one side a deep shelf for everyday clutter and on the other a shelf on which to place decorative objects”
