Copenhagen airbnb experience
For several years, I worked for a Danish company, travelling back and forward to Denmark a lot. I seemed to fit in perfectly rather quick and enjoyed working with the Danes a lot. I think the Dutch share a lot of the same values and work ethics. Although I passionately loved my work there, my colleagues and time always flew by, those trips from when I did bring my own squad are in the end the ones I loved the most. Going ‘to work by plane’ alone sure is in many ways different from traveling with your family.
We prefer a real home away from home, it makes traveling and especially city life, a whole lot easier for us. And Airbnb does just that. Who does not want to experience how living like a local family feels? Sharing my favorite one so far with you.

This place is something special, light and bright with all rooms on one wooden floor, a select mix of Danish design, 20th century man- made and remade furniture, contemporary design and art, alongside some carefully chosen vintage items. All in a typical Danish building in Frederiksberg.
The apartment belongs to Karen Maj Kornum, and she has such a great sense for interior styling, the whole vibe gives you some great new inspiration to take home. Makes you want to order those Fondation Maeght prints finally and start saving up for a new Poul Volther daybed for sure.
Karen Maj is the woman behind Another Ballroom. They represent a varied group of fantastic artists and designers, and offer styling services and consultation on interiors and art. This apartment is also used as their showroom to showcase a selection of pieces that are either available on the website here or through personal requests.
In every city you love there are always some obligatory stops for everyone, right? These are the ones for me in Copenhagen, just because I love them so or have sweet memories.
For coffee routine in the morning, Coffee Collective, preferably the one at Jaegersborggade, also because there is a Meyers Bageri across the street, where you can get the best ‘kanelsnurrer’ in town!
We do not skip Atelier September for lunch, because in the end, turns out we never manage to make the same avo toast or soft boiled egg at home… Apollo Bar for a wine or more on the terrace. Stillleben to get inspired, splurge or get your wish list grown big time. With kids? Don’t forget the aquarium and of course for all Tivoli. And there is so much more in this beautiful city. Just make sure you have a bike! Although that does not always ended well for me (once broke my knee while falling of a bike in CPH, true story…) it still is the best way to discover this beautiful city.
