Fredericia - ScandiDesignTour
The ones who follow me on instagram know that I attended the ScandiDesignTour2017 in Copenhagen by Fredericia and Georg Jensen a couple of weeks ago. I love visiting Copenhagen, one of my favorite cities and this trip was again great, staying in Hotel SP34 among other bloggers and friends from all across Europe. Days filled with nice talks, inspiration, great food, lots of photography and a little bit of shopping too.
The tour was organized and arranged by Fredericia and Georg Jensen and dedicated to tell us more about the story behind these iconic Danish brands and give us a sight behind the scenes.
The first day we visited the amazing new Fredericia showroom, situated on the top floor of the historic former Royal Mail House. A space filled with the iconic designs and telling the history of this Danish brand. Founded in 1911 Fredericia has always been a family owned and managed company. From its modest beginnings as a Danish upholstery workshop, to becoming a major force in the emerging shape of Danish Modern in the 1950′s, to today, where Fredericia has become a truly international brand.
Fredericia believes in some simple principles that guide them along their ambition to create and deliver a collection that they believe will be the modern originals of tomorrow. Simple principles that honour outstanding quality through a careful selection of materials, functionality and attention to detail. Among the old classics they also collaborate with a carefully chosen circle of international designers, all renown for their exceptional level of design integrity, as well as their ability to identify and nurture talent. All with the ambition of creating contemporary design that is always beautifully crafted, relevant and aesthetically intriguing.
Not only could we experience and see the design pieces that were present in the showroom also we experienced how the iconic Spanish Chair is made during a presentation by craftsman Tärnsjö Garveri. I will show you more about this process later including a movie where you can see craftsman Tärnsjö working on it.
Thank you Fredericia for the amazing days and tour - Jantine
