This home has everything you are looking for if you like a clean, bit industrial but also warm and inviting style.
This former Victorian girl's school has been converted in the 1950s as a single storey home. By dropping the floor level and removing the false ceilings a family home with a double hight space and additional rooms was created. The architects behind this project used birch plywood, concrete, wood wool and brass to create this inviting home. The recycled wood/concrete blocks for the wall next to the stairs add a great sense of texture.
The materials used are honest and low in cost and have all been left in their natural state 'as found' and give this home a feeling of simplicity and purity.
We love the amazing work of the architects McLaren.Excell, based in Chelsea, London. Craftsmanship, understanding materials, simplicity and clear feeling are some words that describe the great projects they have created.
